iN-STUDIO Studio Policies
Tuition and Fees
- Tuition is due by the first of each month from September 2024 to June 2025.
- Monthly Tuition Payments are based on a FULL SCHOOL YEAR and divided by 10 months. Consequently, some months might have three lessons and other months might have five lessons – but the monthly tuition payment remains the same.
- Payments may be made by Interac e-Transfer, Visa/MasterCard, or Pre-Authorized Debit. Credit card payments will be charged an extra 3%.
- There are no lessons on statutory holidays or during Halloween, Fall Break, Christmas Break & Spring Break. These days have not been included in the monthly tuition.
Missing a Lesson
- Lessons missed by the student (for any reason) will not be made up or refunded, unless advance notice is given.
- If you know you will be away for a lesson, please let me know in advance and I will try to fit you in on another day/time that week.
- Any lessons cancelled by your teacher will be rescheduled for the soonest available time. If a makeup lesson is not possible, a credit or refund will be provided.
Practicing
- Students are required to complete their practice assignments each week.
- A regular time should be set aside each day for practice in order to establish a practice routine. Daily practice is essential for reinforcement of concepts and to avoid cramming just before the lesson, which is never successful.
- Students who do not practice between lessons will progress very slowly, or possibly not at all.
- Karla’s general guidelines for how long to practice:
Ages 4 to 6: 5 minutes each day
Ages 6 to 8: 10 minutes each day
Ages 9 to 11: 15 minutes each day
Ages 12 and older: 20 minutes each day
- Students preparing for RCM exams need to double or triple the above recommended minutes. .
Social Media
- During lessons, recitals, and other performances we might take photographs or videos of students for use on Key Mobile Music social media, advertising materials, lesson demonstrations, etc. Please know that photos and videos of your child will not be used without your prior permission.
Recitals
- Recitals are held three times each year in auditoriums in St. Albert & Edmonton, seniors' residences, and online.
- Recitals are free of charge for students and for guests.
- Participating in recitals is optional.
Terminating Lessons
- Lessons may be discontinued by the student at any time, with no penalties, provided that the office is notified in writing at least 15 days prior to your last lesson.
- KMM reserves the right to withdraw a student from lessons based on poor attitude, disruptive behaviour, or difficult parents.
